'Today' summer music goes to iTunes
    Big News Network (UPI)
    Monday 21st August, 2006

NBC News is jumping into the Internet music business and hawking its weekly Today show summer concert series at Apple's iTunes Music Store.

Friday's scheduled performance by John Mayer on the morning news/talk show will be the first installment in the NBC News on Stage series, which will be available for download along with behind-the-scenes footage next Tuesday for $1.99, MediaWeek.com reported Monday.

We have always sought out ways to evolve 'Today's' concert series by making it more of an interactive experience for our viewers, Today Executive Producer Jim Bell said.

Today will eventually add past footage to the iTunes mix such as interviews with The Rolling Stones, Madonna, U2, Johnny and June Carter Cash, Ray Charles and Judy Garland, MediaWeek said.
